Taco Libre in Edinburgh is a great spot to enjoy Mexican food, whether for lunch or to close out your day. The interior is fun and colorful, decorated with iconic Mexican characters, giving it a charming and authentic atmosphere. The food quality was overall good. I tried two dishes, tacos and a chicken-based menu option. Personally, I found the chicken dish more enjoyable. The tacos were tasty but felt a little too oily, and the seasoning had a slightly sharp sour note that wasn’t quite to my taste. Still, the flavors were bold and clearly freshly prepared. One important thing to note is that the place only accepts cash. They also offer a range of Mexican drinks that are definitely worth trying. The restaurant is close to the city center, so it’s convenient to stop by if you’re in the area. Overall, a nice, friendly, and affordable Mexican spot that I’d recommend if you’re looking for something different in Edinburgh.

I went here with my girlfriend last week as I’ve always wanted to try this place but just never got around to it. It is genuinely now my favourite restaurant in Edinburgh. The food was delicious. The whole kitchen and dining area was all in one room and the vibe was so cool and chill. Everything from the music to the old tables to the vintage tv playing a Mexican movie was so cool. 10/10 would definitely recommend.

I’ve visited Taco Libre a few times over the last couple of months and it’s always been exceptional!! The staff are lovely, the little restaurant is so nice inside (and they even have seating outside with some heaters)! But most importantly the food always tastes amazing!! Definitely some of the best tacos in Edinburgh! Can highly recommend!

Cute quaint taco shop in Edinburgh. The man working the table/bars was friendly. I loved the Barria and Plantain tacos. I thought the plantain one’s were unique and an absolutely delicious combination of flavors. Will definitely be back if in Edinburgh.

Since moving to Edinburgh I desperately missed Mexican food it’s my absolute favorite cuisine. Taco Libre fulfilled all of my wishes. The food was super delicious and the margaritas were fantastic! I will be coming back many many times!

So many wonderful vegetarian options! The flavours were incredible. We’d come back to Edinburgh just for this!

We ended up here because four other places were too busy to take us, but I think it was meant to be. Coming from Los Angeles, we were a little wary of Mexican food in Scotland, but damn, that was good food! We ordered some chips and guacamole, taco plates, and had a few drinks. Fun atmosphere, and our server (who was Greek), had a great sense of humor! Would definitely recommend and we will return before our vacation ends!

Food was good, staff are helpful, and atmosphere is great. However, I wish they accept cards too; it's strange to expect everyone to carry cash in this day and age.
